Abstract

A generalized dataset of geological and geophysical data for the Eastern sector of the Russian Arctic was prepared in accordance with the implemented approach to collecting and processing geospatial data for the application of machine learning models in geophysics problems. This approach takes into account the differences in geodata format (vector/raster), scale, type of attribute information (quantitative/qualitative) and their availability. A key feature of the developed algorithm is the integration of geospatial data and their conversion into unified quantitative vectors. To combine data, the concept of circle neighborhoods is used to select and consolidate information.

The dataset contains tabular data with 43,783 rows and 227 columns. Each row describe the neighborhood geographical location, its radius as well as geological and geophysical characteristics under consideration. Brief dataset format description and original data sources are given below:

  • Circle neighborhood parameters, 'AREA' prefix (8 columns);
  • Earth's magnetic field anomalies [Lesur et al., 2016; Thébault et al., 2021], 'MAGN_ANOM' prefix (4 columns);
  • Relief height including bathymetry [Amante et al., 2009], 'RELIEF_HEIGHT' prefix (4 columns);
  • Relief types [IIASA, 2002], 'LANDFORM' prefix (12 columns);
  • Soil types map [IIASA, 2002], 'SOIL' prefix (140 columns);
  • Lithotype [IIASA, 2002], 'LITHSPECS' prefix (27 columns);
  • Active faults [Zelenin et al., 2022], 'FAULTS' prefix (19 columns);
  • Catalog of earthquakes [Gvishiani et al., 2022b]: 'MAG' prefix (2 columns);
  • Bouguer anomalies of gravitational field [Pavlis et al., 2008], 'BOUGUER' prefix (4 columns);
  • FCAZ zones of earthquake prone areas [Gvishiani et al., 2022a], 'FCAZ' prefix (1 column);
  • Date and time of data preparation, 'DATA_COLLECT' prefix (6 columns).
