Abstract

A database of virtual magnetograms (VM) for a fixed reference system is reconstructed by interpolation of 1-min magnetograms from worldwide distributed magnetic stations. VM for the ionospheric projections of key magnetospheric domains, such as the dayside cusp and midnight auroral oval, facilitate enormously quick-look analysis, event selection, and study of the ground response to various space weather events. VM database (plots and data files) is freely available for all interested researchers. The VM database has been compiled for the period 1994–2017, and is permanently upgrading.
